An Eco-friendly Fuel is an ecologically friendly fuel. Eco-Friendly Fuels are produced from the naturally occurring materials like biogas and biodiesel. Its production and use have a minimum impact on the environment.
1. Natural Gas
2. Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG)
3. Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)
4. Bio diesel
1. Natural gas
Natural gas is the most affordable forms of energy available to the residential consumer. It is the lowest cost conventional energy source available for residential use. Cooking with natural gas can provide many benefits, including easy temperature control, self-ignition and self-cleaning, as well as being nearly one-half the cost of cooking with an electric range. A natural gas vehicle can be less expensive to operate than comparable conventionally fueled vehicle depending on natural gas prices
Natural gas is naturally occurring hydrocarbon gas mixture consisting primarily of methane, but commonly includes varying amounts of other higher alkenes and even the lesser percentage of carbon dioxide, nitrogen, and hydrogen sulphide. Because of the gaseous nature of the fuel, it is stored onboard a vehicle in either a compressed in a liquefied state or gaseous state.
2. Liquefied Petroleum Gas
LPG is one of the most common and alternative fuels used in the world today. This Gas mainly used in heating appliances and vehicles and is replacing chlorofluorocarbons as an aerosol propellant. This gas is a mixture of hydrocarbon gases used as a fuel for various purposes. Also used as a refrigerant to reduce damage to the ozone layer.
LPG is used as alternate for Petroleum and Diesel. The main reason behind use is the difference in the prices of the oil. LPG has emerged as much preferred choice. LPG is a fossil fuel and can be filtered from oil and natural gas.
3. Compressed Natural Gas
CNG is an Eco-Friendly Fuel and Wallet Friendly Fuel. Compressed natural gas is used as an alternative fuel for auto’s and trucks. Because it is so clean, is being used more today for generation of electricity. Cooking facilities often use natural gas to fulfil this need as well.
The main Element of CNG fuel is Methane (CH4), the finest fuel that comes out from the Gasoline Tanks even before LPG. CNG Fuel is lighter than Air rise upward even when mixing with air. Low-Density CNG Mix with air does not catch fire. CNG is safer than petrol. CNG fuel does not pollute the environment because methane burning emits only carbon dioxide (CO2). Percentage of Carbon Monoxide came out after CNG Combustion is negligible.
Biodiesel is the domestically produced, renewable fuel that can be produced from vegetable oils, animal fats, or recycled restaurant greases. It is safe, biodegradable, and reduces severe air pollutants such as carbon monoxide, particulates, hydrocarbons, and air toxics. Also used in its pure form but it may require certain engine modifications to avoid maintenance problems and may not be suitable for wintertime use.
Biodiesel is typically formed by chemically reacting lipids with an alcohol producing fatty acid esters. Biodiesel is used in standard diesel engines and is separate from the vegetable and waste oils used to fuel converted diesel engines.
Electricity is used as a transportation fuel to power battery electric and fuel cell vehicles. When to used the power electric vehicles, electricity is stored in an energy storage device such as a battery. EV batteries have the limited storage capacity, and their electricity must be recharged by plugging the vehicle. EVs have the lower “fuel” and maintenance costs than the gasoline-powered vehicles.
Hydrogen gas will play an important role in developing sustainable transportation in the World, because in future it may produce in virtually unlimited quantities using the renewable resources.
Currently, there are no original equipment manufacturer vehicles available. Experts estimate that its take 10-20 years for hydrogen vehicles, and the infrastructure to support them, will start to make an impact.
