Sakshi Malik


Sakshi Malik is an Indian freestyle wrestler. In 2016 Summer Olympics, Sakshi won the bronze medal at the 58kg level, becoming the first Indian female wrestler to won a medal in the Olympics and the fourth female Olympic medalist from the country. She is also part of the JSW Sports Excellence Program, along with female wrestlers Babita Kumari, Vinesh Phogat and Geeta Phogat.

In 2014 Sakshi Malik had previously won the silver medal at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and 2015 the bronze medal at the Asian Wrestling Championships in Doha.

Reward After Winning


Sakshi Malik ended India long wait for a medal at Rio 2016 Olympics when she won bronze in the women wrestling 58kg category on the 12th day of the Summer Games.

A plenty of Cash rewards is set to come to her ways. She got more than Rs 2.5 Crore is on the cards.
Haryana government has promised a bumper bonus for medallists. 6 Crore for Gold, 4 Crore for the Sliver and 2 Crore for Bronzer. The railway has given a cash reward of 1 Crore for the Gold medallists, 75 lakhs for the Sliver Medallist and 50 Lakh for the Bronze medallist; Sakshi is employed with Railways and get the 50Lakh from Railway.

The IOA Top brass involving President N Ramachandran and Secretary Rajeev Mehta announced that national Olympic body for the first time award Rs 50 lakh for the gold medal, Rs 30 lakh for the silver and Rs 20 lakh for the bronze.

Also, the coaches granted an equivalent of 50 percent of the amount that the players receive. So, a gold-winning player receives Rs. 50 lakh, while the coach gets Rs. 25 lakh.

Salman Khan gives a cheque of Rs 1,01,000 to the winner players.


India Rio Olympics medallists PV Sindhu and Sakshi Malik, Dipa Karmakar and badminton coach Pullela Gopichand gifted BMW cars by Sachin Tendulkar in felicitation function held at Hyderabad.

The Telangana government had given a cash reward of Rs 1 crore to grappler Sakshi Malik.

Sakshi Earlier Life

Sakshi Malik was born on 3rd September 1992 in Mokhra village of Haryana Rohtak district to Sukhbir, a bus conductor in Delhi Transport Corporation. And Sudesh Malik, a Supervisor at a local Anganwadi.
Sakshi Father said that she was motivated to take up wrestling from seeing her grandfather (Badhlu Ram) who was also a wrestler. She started training in wrestling at the age of 12 and her coach Ishwar Dahiya at n akhara in Chhota Ram Stadium, Rohtak. She and coach have faced the opposition from the locals for having taken up a sport is “Not for Girls.

Sakshi Malik Eagerly waiting for Pro Wrestling League

Olympic bronze medallist wrestler Sakshi Malik today credited Pro Wrestling League for treating her improve her performance. She said that she was waiting eagerly for the second season which is held in December 2016, “My performance is more improve after the PWL, especially in the Olympics and other major tournaments.
The league has a blessing for Indian wrestlers. Sakshi said However she did not participate in the National Championships.
